Inexpensive porcelain fermenting pots

Last edited Fri Jun 27, 2014, 06:50 PM - Edit history (2)

I might make sauerkraut again this fall and have been looking on line at porcelain fermenting posts. Kinda expensive! Then I read an article where the author suggested checking out slow cookers or roaster ovens at yard sales and thrift stores. As long as the porcelain liner isn't cracked or chipped, it can be used as a fermenting pot to make sauerkraut, pickles, kimchi or some other food that requires fermentation.

that is a great idea. You are right that fermenting pots are really pricey, and I see things at yard sales all the time that would fit your bill. Good catch.
