Footage emerges of Israeli citizens, reportedly from the illegal settlement of Esh Kodesh, assaulting and beating international pro-Palestinian activists in the northern West Bank, injuring several of them.
Video footage shows a group of men, some masked but others with their faces visible and sporting long peot, or sidelocks, and tzitzit, attacking the activists and beating them with wooden clubs.
According to the Staring the Occupation in the Face organization, which campaigns against the settlements, the Israeli assailants came down from Esh Kodesh to attack the activists who were planting olive trees in the land around the Palestinian town of Qusra, south of Nablus.
The IDF forces did not arrest the assailants because they fled the scene, nor did they report the incident to the police, since some of them were masked.

(96,043 posts)If you do not understand that is how non-violent protest works, that's a shame. It's something, like People's War, a good leftist ought to be familiar with. The point of the exercise is to provoke one's opponent to violence, which in the case of non-violent protest, is always disproportionate. The intent, anyway, is to show one's opponent in a bad light, in hopes this will result in increased support for your side, or less support for your opponent, anyway. Had they been met with tea and cakes, the demonstration would have been an abject failure.
The problem with the approach here, at least with me, is that I really do not give a fuck. I know perfectly well what the situation in the Jordan valley is, and on Oct. 6, 2023, I would have cared about injustice in the occupied territories. I don't now. Hamas and its supporters have made the cause of Arab Palestine an unclean thing.

(96,043 posts)Of course they are boilerplate of the lowest water, so it's likely just as well you confine yourself to the usual duckspeak noises.
But still, it suggests a less than firm grasp of the subject, and an attempt, shall we say, to provoke disproportionate response. It takes you little if any effort to do what you do, so really just about any response to one of your comments is more than it deserves.

The IDF views any attack and injury to citizens very severely and works to protect public order and security in the region, the army said.
Bonkers.
