Suburban home invasion that started as a Grindr hook-up may have links to similar crimes in Chicago city (CWB Chicago)

CHICAGO — A suburban Christian school teacher has been jailed after prosecutors accused him of using the gay dating app Grindr to target a suburban man for a violent home invasion. Chicago police believe Antoine Perteet is responsible for similar crimes in the city, and Cook County prosecutors charged him with one of those last week.

The city case occurred in the 1900 block of West Morse late on June 28, according to CPD records. He’s charged with armed robbery with a firearm and aggravated unlawful restraint.

But we have more details about the suburban case. There, Perteet, 33, is charged with home invasion, kidnapping, possessing a stolen firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in connection with a Grindr date that went bad in Cicero on October 8.

During a recent detention hearing, prosecutor Matthew Larkin told Judge Susana Ortiz that Perteet connected with the victim on and before the date of the attack via a dating application, which our source identified as Grindr. During those conversations, the victim provided his home address so they could meet, Larkin said.
