Chicken culls aren't that infrequent. Bird flu can not only wipe out whole flocks, it can easily spread to other area farms. Culling flocks in which chickens have been found to be infected is the only control. H5N8 is known to pass to humans, but it's one of the less virulent flu types, although some studies claim it is becoming more virulent as time goes on.

At least this isn't the H5N1 bird flu they've found in Chinese waterfowl. While that one doesn't move human to human, it has a 60% fatality rate in people who have caught it from infected birds.

The just put down their entire mink population because of COVID-19 that is transmitted to humans and now they have to destroy their chickens because of bird flu? My area keeps up with Denmark, because we have been fighting a Rockwool plant.

And not as China has culled pigs by setting them on fire or as the US steamed pigs etc. alive under Trump.

We need to use the science on animal intelligence as a guideline and not cull animals barbarically.

It really speaks very poorly about our regulations, scientific/ philosophical worldviews...No civilized species can afford to treat other life-forms this way....It is insane.
