Their "scoreboard" only shows deaths through yesterday (12/28), and that there were approximately 1.7K deaths in the U.S. that day (which aligns with CDC's figures -- I'm really skeptical of World-O-Meters, which seems like the tabloid journalism of COVID coverage).

4. U.S. deaths (overall, from all causes) increase 15% over last year, at least 400,000 more than 2019

U.S. deaths in 2020 top 3 million, by far most ever counted, an increase of 15% over last year -- the largest single year percentage increase since 1918. In contrast, in 2019, the mortality rate fell a little bit, and consequently life expectancy rose for the 3rd straight year, to 78.8 years. This year, life expectancy may end up dropping as much as 3 full years. Deaths usually rise by about 20,000 to 50,000 each year due to population aging and growth. This year deaths are on track to be at least 400,000 more than 2019, AP, 12/22/20

In case some fuckhead tells you they count every death where someone tested positive or had symptoms as a Covid death, thus greatly exaggerating the Covid death count -- in essence by counting people who died WITH Covid as having died FROM Covid. Well, Rightie McRightRight, something's killing a lot of people this year. The Squad? Black Lives Matter? George Soros? Hillary's Pizza Place Pedophiles?

to suit their agenda. Yesterday I saw a post on DU of a woman at CVS (without a mask of course) telling everyone around her, "You can see I am not sick. Do I look sick? You are all falling for a hoax. This was all made up, look, I am healthy so why should I wear a mask?". I wanted to reach through my tablet and smack her face and tell her to wake up! Too stupid for words and crazy as a bedbug.

'Toxic individualism': Pandemic politics driving health care workers from small towns, 12/28/20

More than a quarter of all the public health administrators in Kansas quit, retired or got fired this year, according to Vicki Collie-Akers, an associate professor of population health at the University of Kansas. Some of them got death threats. Some had to hire armed guards.

"These are leaders in their community," Collie-Akers says. "And they are leaving broken." Collie-Akers notes these professionals also leaving at a terrible time. The pandemic is still raging. Vaccines still need to get from cities to small towns and into people's arms; public health officers are as important as ever.
