I feel so lucky

Last November spouse was diagnosed with aortic root dilation, meaning an open heart surgery.

But... as long as it would not progress to an emergency one, it was considered elective and was told to wait to February, with the hope that all the Covidiot who celebrated the holiday would by then be flushed from the hospital system.

And it was. Spouse who by then was 75 got both vaccines before the surgery; I had to wait a few days. By then even visitors were allowed to the hospital. Spouse stayed there 10 days and then three weeks at a rehab where visitors were not allowed.

And now, when I see all the nonvaxxers filling hospitals again, we feel so lucky to have managed to use the really short opening.

I have surgery scheduled for August 6 and I'm anxious about it. It will entail 24 hours in the hospital (considered outpatient). I am fully vaccinated and am required to get a Covid test three days prior.

I'm so glad you and your spouse are safe.

had to have a pacemaker installed this last Monday. Mentioned to the techs that I I was glad I might have made it before the next surge. That year without being able to see a doc hurt a lot of folks....and no doubt killed a good number...
