Can you get your antibody levels tested for vaccine

immunity purposes, and how?

A recent poster had this checked which is partly why I'm asking.

Does it require a doctor's recommendation, and is it done because a person has an autoimmune disorder or other medical condition, or you think you have Covid or were exposed to it?

I'm curious to know my levels if possible.

I had both Moderna shots and intend to get the booster later this month.

Thanks.

I believe a doctor has to order it as was the case for us.

the quantification necessary to provide much meaningful information as to whether the antibody is present at levels likely to be sufficiently neutralizing. Somewhere there may be a commercial test being marketed, but it would be quite expensive and still questionable. Validation of the precise level of antibodies necessary to be sufficiently protective is difficult outside large population-based research studies, may vary from individual to individual and doesn't begin to address the non-alpha and non-delta variants.

So yes, you can get a test that gives you basic information that you have some level of measurable antibodies. And, if you do, it is likely you have activated b- and t-cells ready to ramp up if necessary, should the antigen present in an exposure--at least against delta. Beyond that, though they can't tell you much more than that; however, those tests are useful for the immunocompromised, as even some degree of measurable antibody is meaningful.
