Vaping: Juul Labs agrees thousands of US settlements

E-cigarette manufacturer Juul Labs is to settle more than 5,000 US vaping lawsuits, after being accused of targeting teenagers with its products.

The deal was reached with about 10,000 plaintiffs in a California court. The financial terms have not been revealed.

In September, the firm agreed to pay hundreds of millions to end a probe of its advertising.

Juul has been accused of fuelling the rise in teenage vaping and has been forced to take cost-cutting measures.

1. Nicotine is the most rapidly dependence producing drug out there

Yes, those things were marketed to kids. I'm not as totally bent out of shape over this as I was about Joe Camel. Most likely vaping is not nearly as damaging to the lungs as tobacco is. It is as damaging to the cardiovascular system. It is hell to detox.

I don't mind that this drug is sold or even advertised. I just wish advertisers would be compelled to feature people over 50 in their commercials.

Remove the "young, rebellious, cool" images and replace them with people their parents' age, teenage nicotine abuse would drop like a rock. Oh, they'd still start up in the military and frats, but at least they wouldn't be starting at 14.
