This is a pic of it...
It began a week ago while gardening. I didn't notice at the moment that anything happened. I'd been clipping back an Artichoke bush. At first I thought it was a blood blister. Today it started hurting more. And I see a black dot in the middle of it. Preparing a meal is painful.
It seems such a tiny issue to bother a doctor about or go to urgent care. I'm trying soaking it in hot water to see if something can be drawn out, like a splinter.
Anybody experience this or know what it is?

Pretty basic.

(855 posts)I had a sliver of glass get into my thumb next to the nail
worked it out with tweezers, painfully, but it took a few days of swelling for it to heal over, and then new skin started to push that away for about a couple weeks
just now leveling off
Its surprising how much damage a little fragment can cause sometime.
Watch for any severe dark discoloration, lack of healing after a week or two, or any red lines etc

(5,841 posts)When I googled a tiny black bug bite...
It said No-see-um. It actually welted and hurt, considering the nothing it is. I picked the black off, then cleaned it. About a week later it oozed a clear hard liquid and now is going away.
Nasty little bite.

(9,712 posts)Followed by soaking it in hot water actually drew out what was either a tiny thorn or splinter of some kind. So odd that the black spot wasn't visible or painful until today. I got immediate relief from the pain. The bump is still soar. Not sure if there is more to come. But for now I'm good!!
