Anyone here have a love one on memantine?

My husband has been on it for well over a year and I swear it has just erased his memory all together. He doesn’t remember anyone from TV shows we used to love unless he see’s a photo of the person. I’m going to talk to his dr and see if he can come off it. Do you know how hard it is to talk to someone who doesn’t remember anything??? He doesn’t remember his “pin” number, phone number, birthday, Soc Sec number, or even who the president is. I just can not talk to him at all anymore about any old movies, or tv shows. It’s really sad.
