Related: About this forumI'm scared shitless of diagnostic tests
I have an ultrasound coming up for upper-right calcifications found on back xrays. I'm sure there's a name for this phobia.
I'm an idiot. There are screenings I skip sometimes due to this overwhelming fear. What is wrong with me? I did have melanoma in situ yrs ago. I do go for skin scans.
Thanks for reading..
My understanding is that calcifications are always benign, not malignant.
I had gallbladder issues in my 20s. I was told stop drinking whole milk.
That makes sense, since whole milk has a lot of fat, and the gall bladder stores bile produced by the liver which breaks down fat in the intestines.

(16,037 posts)to get an ultrasound. The results showed nothing wrong that they could find and I was so relieved. The pain lasted another three months and then disappeared. I never did find out what caused it. But I feel like such a coward, you know?

Digestive issues are very often due to psychological issues like stress and worry. Medical texts sometimes refer to the digestive system as a primitive brain.

(16,037 posts)which was that I had pancreatic cancer that had spread to the liver or something like that. Given that they never found a reason for the pain, I can see it being a psychological manifestation of some sort.

(36,813 posts)I got an MRI. Ten days have gone by and I have been imagining the worse results. I got a call yesterday
the doctor wants to talk to me Tuesday. Now I am sure something is wrong and I still have 3 more days to
worry. My father had prostate cancer and suffered through one problem after another for 7 years as a result of
the treatments.

(16,037 posts)My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer and he had the surgery to remove the entire prostate. Luckily, it hadnt spread and he suffered no incontinence except for the first couple of months he would leak. Hes doing great now, no sign of a return. So dont panic even if the results arent what you hope for.
