Microplastics have been found in human brains, according to recent research that has not yet been peer-reviewed. The new findings raise concerns among researchers that the olfactory pathway might allow microplastics to access the brain and potentially reach brain areas beyond the olfactory bulb.
Once present in [the olfactory bulb], there can be translocation to other regions of the brain, says study co-author Luís Fernando Amato-Lourenço, an environmental scientist at the Free University of Berlin, to CNNs Sandee LaMotte. Translocation depends on several factors, including the shape of the particle, whether it is a fiber or a fragment, its size and the bodys defense mechanisms.
Also when I recently got my hair cut the stylist, who has been doing this for awhile, said it was the time of year when she was cutting college students hair and it was the first time she noticed the number of guys with receding hairlines.
My first thought (no evidence) was microplastics.

There's a significant rise in breast and colon cancer in younger age groups in the last 30 years. I can't help but associate it with all the toxins in processed fast food and many consumer products. It's a big problem, another one. Thanks for posting!

And more and more adults act and think like children.

One thing that site didn't list is recycling. The only plastics that are recyclable at this point are Nos. 1 and 2, the clear and hard white plastics. Everthing else goes into the landfill, where it gets ground down into more microplastic. That's the dirty secret of those recycling numbers on all plastics. If you're stuck for something to microwave at work, Stouffer's is now using the white recyclable trays.
I'm not completely anti plastic, the shit has made my life with RA a hell of a lot easier because it's so light weight compared to glass. I just wish they'd get it the hell out of clothing. It sheds, pills, bags, and shortens the wear life even in small amounts in blends.
