Roku removes YouTube TV from channel store as dispute with Google escalates
Roku has pulled YouTube TV from its channel store. The distribution agreement between Roku and Google for YouTube TV has expired as of today and the two sides havent been able to reach a new deal. However, Roku says it is taking the extra step to continue to offer existing subscribers access to YouTube TV on the Roku platform unless Google takes actions that require the full removal of the channel. New subscriptions from the YouTube TV app have also been switched off until an agreement is reached.
In an email to customers, Roku warned it is also important that you do not delete the YouTube TV app as it will not be available for download to Roku devices. The regular YouTube app is unaffected by this situation and remains freely available on Roku devices

(7,962 posts)... that could change at any time. As I understand it, their agreement runs out today. I just got an email from YTTV giving instructions on how to access its service by using your phone or laptop if Roku removes it, then cast to your tv. I've been trying to do that for a couple of days but haven't been able to get it work. I was able to in my previous place but can't here for some reason.
It's just aggravating that one giant company and one somewhat smaller company can't get together and we keep having to go through this crap every so often when a fight between the media giants breaks out. Big profits are never enough and the consumer gets shafted as usual.
