Detective Montalbano

One of my most favorite television series is Detective Montalbano (In Italian with English subtitles), which I watch on MHz Choice.

The final episode aired today. It took them over 20 years to make 37 episodes. I love nearly every one.

This last episode was the biggest let down in the history of final episodes. Whoever wrote this terrible ending belongs in prison for crimes against storytelling.

I won’t write any spoilers for those who have watched this great series. But the let down is sad in lots of ways.

1. Sux. Think they get notified the show is not being renewed and they have

to try to tie things up. Very disappointing.

I go through major withdrawal when some enjoyable series end. Watch a lot of UK mystery series.

Haven’t watched your show yet, but sounds like a great series with a memorable ending if only for setting some dubious record.

2. It takes place in a fictional town in Sicily.

Detective Montalbano is kind of a Sicilian version of an English village mystery, very enjoyable. The actor who plays Detective Montalbano didn’t want to do it anymore. I wonder if they ruined the ending to punish him!

4. I have watched so many.

All the Scandinavian ones and Spiral. Spiral is epic.
I am now watching The Fox, which is excellent.
