Netflix. The Diplomat. Staring Keri Russell
A series that just landed this week.
Was immediately hooked.
Smart
Well written
Cast loaded with chemistry
Latest articles put it in the same class as The West Wing.

(12,934 posts)And the fictional world it is set in is really close to our own. There's a Bidenesque president (Michael McKean), references to a previous president who was a disaster, and it centers around a foreign-service power couple (Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell) that reminds me of Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson. It's a wonderful show and every cast member a standout.

(42,770 posts)On episode one and it's way too fast paced to me to follow. Wish directors had slowed down at the beginning and gradually added deeper detail.
If you watch... Make sure you have every brain cell working at optimum.

So fast paced too- but wow, does anyone understand the end? Like who did she throw the phone to- and why? And why did she call that far right stooge woman about the MP who wanted to meet with the hubby? And who might have been effected by the car? Trying to be not so explicit with the questions ..but I am wishing that if someone understood it better than I did that they could illuminate me.

(5,187 posts)1. she threw the phone to her (his?) security detail.
2. she threw it because she figured out that the PM was behind it all and it was his work phone so it could likely be bugged. She put his phone in her purse with her phone playing very loud music and got it away from them so she could tell him what she figure out.
3. she called the far right stooge woman because she knew she could get the answer she needed and that stooge didn't lead her astray the last time she worked with her.
4. Car bomb could have hit the husband, her assistant, obviously the MP is dead.

(6,453 posts)I had not thought about the phone being bugged part. And the loud music thing- I will go watch it again.
This is an interesting show!

(24,132 posts)It's good, don't get me wrong. But it isn't really grabbing me. I'm three episodes in so I'll give it another shot. Hopefully it gets better.
