If you've ever lived in the south - Ted Lasso's accent is so fake

Annoyingly fake.

Admit, it's only on in the background. But so far, can't believe this won so many awards.

Guess I need to really watch huh . But that accent makes me cringe

With a fake southern accent? I know a guy from KC and he doesn't sound like that

Sorry... Big on great actor accents. Best recent one I can think of offhand is Julia Garner's redneck Ruth in Ozark.

His accent is authentic. Jason Sudekis is from Kansas.

I grew up in the South, so I have a southern accent. I now live in the area where Sudekis grew up. His accent sounds absolutely like people that grew up in the Kansas City area. I hear it daily.

Esp. the finale.

It was a great show, accent notwithstanding.

Fun fact ... the ending sequence of finale is the song Cat Stevens - Father and Son, which was perfect, and then the credits open to Fight Song by The Flaming Lips ... which lists Cat Stevens as a co-writer ... because it sounds a lot like ... Father and Son.

I'm the sorta music nerd who knows these kinds of things

Show's worth watching ... the latter half of the last season is particularly affecting. Arguably a little 'obvious' at times but if you watched all along and you're invested in the characters, it's really a great last few episodes.

Like thought Modern Family was absurdly dumb. And Veep. But obviously, what do I know? These shows win countless Emmys.

But it's a pretty good show. I'm not sticking my neck and saying 'you WILL like this', but most people do. There's a time for this kinda show, I don't always want to watch Succession or Ozark or Squid Game

But then I like Modern Family okay as well (I like the sort of 'random' humor like that show had).

Never saw Veep.

To me it was very formulaic, predictable, too earnist, and lacked good women characters. Maybe it got better as every one loved it but definitely not for me.

Veep, however, is one of my favorite shows. I'm a fan of good dark humor.

I'll have to try Veep again. Just saw it once and it seemed to have too many constant gratuitous F words. Not a prude but seemed phony. Everyone seemed constantly miserable.

But I seldom agree with honored TV and film. Except for Ozark

I was told if I could get past the first few episodes, I would like it. Might want to give it another shot?

It was recommended to me. I haven't been able to watch it because I've been caught up in this drama where an imbecile gets elected as president of the U.S. It so turns out this person is also a professional crook. Week after week the system catches up to him and it seems there is an indictment weekly. Tantalizing stuff. Would never happen in real life, though. Haven't been able to break away for another series.

twists, turns plot lines left unfinished, full of bad actors. Hero's who can't quite bring it across the finish line.

What a mess of a story. Probably written by AI.

It's worth saying it again since this is a pretty bad hot take.

It's accurate. I grew up in the Midwest and have been to Kansas many times. I hear no problems with it. He's not from the deep south; he's from the southern Midwest.
