What good documentary series have people streamed?
I've never really been into documentaries before, but I'm watching "Turning Point: The Bomb And The Cold War" on Netflix and love it. I know that there are tons of documentary series on Netflix, Prime, Max, etc., but that's kind of the problem - it's overwhelming! Anyone have recommendations?

(159,976 posts)but I was curious about the story
it's amazing what goes on behind the scenes
Lance himself, well, I was thinking what an arrogant narcissist, win-at-all-costs asshole he is - and yet, he's still somewhat.....likeable. VERY entertaining to listen to. And I honestly have zero doubt his cancer charity was from the heart....well worth watching.

(30,337 posts)I started watching Downfall (which is about Boeing), it's fairly techy. The one about Henry Lee Lucas, the Confession Killer is excellent. The also enjoyed Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari (New Zealand). I was riveted with American Conspiracy the Octopus Murders last summer.
You can see that I like true crime.
Wild Wild Country is about that commune in Oregon (It's also true crime)
Woodstock 99 is crazy
Other two are also true crime.
There is also one about Warren Jeffs: Keep Sweet and Pray and Obey
I really like Don't Pick Up the Phone, but it only got a 6.7 rating on IMDB, but I found it riveting.

White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch was fun to watch. I enjoyed the Ashley Madison documentary.
I recently watched Crip Camp and Black Barbie, which are light. I enjoyed them both.
The 30 for 30 sports series are usually pretty good, but I lost interest in Oscar Pistorius (too drawn out). The OJ one had too much sideshow stuff. However, the ice skating one was very well done. I'm a she, so there's a bit of bias.
There are alot of docuseries and I've watched alot of them. Finding one that keeps your attention is the key.

(47,552 posts)You think you know everything about the Third Reich, but this is full of details you might not be aware of. In part, that's because of the length of the series.

(47,552 posts)Life on Our Planet. So many series have similar titles. This one is narrated by Morgan Freeman.
Fascinating. We all know about the asteroid and the dinosaurs but little about the other mass extinctions. This is full of creatures you've never heard of. They're beautifully portrayed as living beings through CGI.
Come to think of it, I think I'll watch it again.

(4,100 posts)gymnastics in 2021. It follows 4 or 5 of the hopefuls. So far, it's very interesting and I never knew they type of stress these young ladies put their bodies through to try and make it in competitive gymnastics. For example, they are almost always competing with injuries.
