Any good new comedies?
Either tv shows or movies? With all the horrible things President Musk and The Rapist are doing, I need something to put me in a good mood.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film, especially Kelsey Grammar as the unflappable general - always ready with a quick answer and so sincere you want to believe him, despite the utter absurdity of what he is saying. I am not sure whether to treat this movie as comedy or horror - it would be quite amusing as fiction , but I find it rather terrifying to think that it is based on a true story. Is this really how our tax dollars are wasted? As a former member of the military I find it all too easy to believe.

(189,588 posts)It’s based on a true story by USAF Col. James Burton on the development of the Bradley. The Army needed a new Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) to replace the 113. The 113 is a workhorse but it’s too small, not heavily enough armored, and only had a 50 Cal behind and armored plate. They started with the body and armor and then everyone (Congress) jumped in the money pool. The engine will be made here the transmission here. How about a turret? Oooh then it needs a 25 mm made here, How about an anti-tank missile (TOW) made here? Etc.
Truth be told the Bradley is a good vehicle. It outperformed the Abrams A1 in the desert and in the tighter cities in both wars and the Ukrainians have quickly adapted it and to it with the few they got. Very versatile though loud and with the right training can be very accurate and lethal. I was a gunner on Bradley (Cav) never missed - good training.

(189,588 posts)From the creators of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia it not as crude. Conniving yes?
Rob McElhenney and Davis Hornsby (Cricket on Sunny) Charlotte Nicdao is the female programmer Poppy. They address not Gamergate but definitely women in that world. It’s the office environment in the game industry- a multi user combat game with Nordic type warriors. The game is not the focus.
Very cleverly written. At this point you’d be able to watch into season 3. They took some long breaks due to Sunny.
They did two remarkable episodes.
One was made IN the pandemic. Shot individually but well put together. There’s a zoom call trick at the end that’s just good TV.
There’s another episode involving shovels and the Nazi crowd invading the game. They broke Poppy what the players would do with the shovels but she was determined to add it as a tool. Funny. They trick the Nazis to isolate them. A great Raiders of the Lost Ark finish.

(32,166 posts)Chuck Lorre creation.
Only two seasons unfortunately, because MAX announced Feb 2025 there won't be a third. And that's too bad, because it's just as good as everything else Lorre has been behind.
I'd love to see Netflix pick it up.
La Coliniere
(1,353 posts)It’s on Paramount/Showtime. We watched both seasons (8 episodes each) over the course of a weekend; we just couldn’t stop because we enjoyed it so much. It’s an Australian rom-com about a forty something microbrewery owner and his relationship with a younger woman who he meets after he hits a dog with his car after the woman flashes her breast at him while she’s walking in front of his car. They form a bond in taking care of Colin, the dog, from that moment forward. The series is very well written, generally cheerful and funny with wonderfully rendered characters and situations. Very enjoyable. Hope there’s a season 3.
