Perry Mason, starting June 21 HBO
The BBC gave it a pretty good review:
An interesting very topical subplot:
Paul Drake (Chris Chalk), a police officer here, is Masons private investigator in the classic version. One of the new series better tweaks is to cast a black actor as Drake, and to create a strong subplot exposing the racism and corruption in the police department. As Drake grapples with choices about his own future he is a cop but forbidden to handcuff a white man Chalk gives the character a strength and sternness that make him almost as compelling as Mason

OP
The old TV series was much closer to the novels by Erle Stanley Gardner.

The main characters had no discernable past, and they didn't develop. The new series is an imagined back story, with the good guys not all that good, but a lot sexier.

when she played opposite Tom Conway in a couple of "Falcon" movies.

(14,173 posts)3. I made it through about three minutes of the trailer. It's really horribly bad.
Overboard production values, cringe-inducing acting, etc.

I loved her roles in "Orphan Black".
This role should be great for her.

She's magnificent as "Sister Alice", aka Aimee Semple McPherson.
