All of my stupid health issues!
I have brittle bones. Currently, I am suffering from not one, but two compression fractures. They are very painful. I just have to endure them until they heal. I have a home health aide and a husband who helps a lot. I cannot make good decisions while I am in this much pain.
I have fluid on my lung which is going to be removed. The complication is that I have a blood clot on my lung. I will have to stop blood thinners for a short time. This frightens me. I think I have a good pulmonologist. The first one was terrible.
I am not looking for medical advice, just support and prayers. I still have things to do in this world. I may be 75 years old, but my small steps can be added to others to help save our democracy.

(82 posts)Muriel, I think that is one of the most beautiful and musical names. You can almost hear the music as you say it. My mother’s name is Muriel. The name means sparkling or shining sea. You bring peace and harmony to those you meet. Your light radiates to those who need it most. People marvel at your strength and look to you for reassurance. You’ll never know how many people you have quietly blessed.. This I am certain of. My mother lived to 100 - constantly and quietly shining her light onto others. As I pray I will think of you as I say the name Muriel.

(2,530 posts)This may not be of any help for you, and, your docs probably know this — still, this may be helpful.
My wife fell a year ago resulting in a compression fracture of L1 vertebra. Docs fixed it with KYPHOPLASTY - two long needles inserted into the vertebra: balloon inserted and inflated, which pumped the vertebra into normal configuration; “super glue” pumped in, which fixed the vertebra in normal configuration; needles withdrawn; 30 minutes from start to finish. KYPHOPLASTY cannot be used on all fractures but I hope this may help you a bit.
We are 80 and 82, living in a small, red, rural Virginia county with 10,000 registered voters. In 2020 we turned out 3,200 votes for Biden and are shooting for 4,000 this year. Every bit helps no matter how small you think it is. We are all on the same journey.

(724 posts)Good luck with it all. Sorry that's such an inadequate thing to say. Getting older is hard.

(31,835 posts)I might be a little bit better. I know it is part of the aging process, too. I am just tired of pain. And I am tired of being afraid of what comes next.
