My Mom was diagnosed with it in her late 70s, which is the only reason I know there is such a condition. The last few months, I've felt off, and this week, thought I had a UTI. I got checked and I don't have a UTI. I've been taking it easy, and taking the antibiotic, but I'm not myself. This evening, it occurred to me that maybe I should see about getting my adrenal function tested. It is rare, and I don't know if it's hereditary. Just thinking out loud.
Just called my doctor's office and began the process, I hope, of getting tested for adrenal insufficiency. The receptionist was very attentive and asked me some questions. She's going to relay my request to the nurses, and we'll go

(19,181 posts)I never thought I'd forget what we went through with my Mom, how intense it was at the time. The hospital in Colorado lost her records, and the Ohio doctors said that just our saying wasn't enough to treat her. My sister and I were printing stuff off the Internet and showing it to her doctors, trying to get her the medicine that kept her normal. If you are having a crisis, taking b.p. laying down, and then standing is a quick way to test for it. If you are having a crisis, your b.p. drops way down, fast. So the e.r. dr. tested her, was astonished, and they finally started listening. She got the Florinef she needed to live a stable life. If I have it, I'm not as far along as my Mom was and my records won't be lost. But if there is a reason for all of the slight, noticeable changes in my health, I'll be glad to know.
