Related: About this forumThe better half and I have started going to the local gymn 3 times a week
we are pretty new at this so all we do is walk the tradmill for over a mile. We then sit in the hot tub to ease our old bones. We hope to get better.

(620 posts)I go to the gym regularly, usually 5 days/week. My main focus in the gym is resistance exercises (free weights and machines), and ride a bicycle on the road for cardio work.
I can relate to the "old bones", mine are 70.

(6,581 posts)There are probably many activities, organized or individual, at a good gym. Talk to member services and see what the offer that appeals to you.

(620 posts)be considered prudent to consult your health care provider and/or a qualified dietitian and have them provide a long range nourishment plan.
"Diets" with names (or are experiencing a popularity swell) is not necessarily the best plan for overall good health, especially as one ages.

(1,410 posts)and I did check with my physician about this particular "diet" before starting it. He OKed it. What I like most about it is that the food preparation is simple and I actually like the food choices. Also, since I prepare most of the family meals, no one is complaining that they are having to eat "diet" food.
