How are you?
Sunriser13
(612 posts)Good to see you! Glad you're doing well!
As for me, two weeks of vet stuff (so far) - he was sick about a week before that... two different issues, he had dental surgery yesterday, been being nurse and nutritionist, etc. Pills, mouth squirts, and needles - and trying to get him to eat something, anything!
So I'm pretty weird right now!

(59,812 posts)Who are you talking about? Dog? Horse? Human?
Sunriser13
(612 posts)My senior cat. I kinda continued here from another thread's post.
That does make it a bit incomplete, doesn't it? I usually try not to do that. I guess that's a result of where my mind is. Scattered big time.

(59,812 posts)I thought perhaps I'd missed a previous thread.
Awwww sweet kitty. It is tough when they get older for sure.
Take a few minutes & do several deep, diaphragmatic breaths, focusing on the nice, cool air you are breathing in. That can really help to recenter yourself.
Sunriser13
(612 posts)It doesn't help that he spit out that huge, huge clot as soon as he walked out of the carrier, accompanied with enough blood that you'd swear I massacred an entire clowder! He ran around, still disoriented from the anesthesia, and just kept on spitting out blood - I've been cleaning a lot along with everything else.
I'm not complaining - this is my "son" after all, but it's sure affecting me crazily. My RA has chosen this time of stress to flare hard, too. That sucks, big time. I hurt so bad!
Yikes! This wasn't supposed to be about me; I was concerned for you guys! Breathing... breathing... screaming... breathing...
Luv y'all!
SheltieLover
(59,812 posts)Now exhale.
Can you put kitty in his carrier to contain the mess? It probably will also encourage him to rest.
It is great to vent, SunRiser! We all do it from time to time.

(21,646 posts)feel bettter and eat normal . He had ckd so I was worried
I had liquid food for the 2nd day I think . First day home he was not interested in anything . Possibly still hungover from the anesthesia that first day . Always a fight with meds but that was expected
I hope for a good outcome for you and kitty
Sunriser13
(612 posts)He is doing better today, but still convalescing (sp?). My vet's office is pretty darn good at calming terrified pet parents, too. They assured me he wasn't actually bleeding to death, and that it was OK if I had to skip a med for a few hours when he's just not having any part of it.
CKD is an incredible challenge. I so admire the dedication it takes to handle it properly - it ain't easy.
Thanks for the boost.

Hope yours is better soon!
Sunriser13
(612 posts)I can't do that to him right now. I'm too afraid the struggling would take too much of what little energy he has right now. Besides, it would likely start the bleeding again.
I swear he's holding up better than I am!

(612 posts)What are those potato looking emoticons in your post? I know they've gotta' mean something sweet, but my feeble mind can't figure them out...
SheltieLover
(59,812 posts)When you click on one to insert it into a message, it tells you the meaning. The potatoes above show : grouphug : without the space between : & word.

etc.
Sunriser13
(612 posts)No, I understand those. The ones in the middle of the row along the bottom of your post #9 lose me. Three , six "potatoes", and a .
I'm sorry to bother you with it. I'm dense sometimes, but I just don't see those in the middle listed in the smilies, and can't seem to recognize what they're supposed to be.

(59,812 posts)Sorry for the confusion.
3 thumbs up & 6 clapping hands. Not DU emojis.
I must say, though DU has the absolute best emojis!

(25,714 posts)I have a bad cough and a low grade fever, 100° so I guess I should call my doctor. I have been isolating but I had to go pick up a medicine Tuesday and here we are.
How are you?

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to call - that it came on so quick might be good? Have you had your flu shot?
Please feel better! I'm commanding good vibes of every sort to begin coming at you from all directions!
Edited to add: Your doc might want to get some Tamiflu into you, but it has to be quick, within 72 hours of starting symptoms, I think. Do call and see what they think, AFAIK, it couldn't hurt.

(25,714 posts)I have taking acetaminophen and am afebrile. I haven't been coughing but I do have an audible wheeze and oddly feel dizzy. I was able to find my pulse oximeter packed away from my old home health work kit and incredibly the battery is still working. My O2 has been registering from low of 88 to high of 95 so that may explain the dizziness.
I will see how I'm doing Monday and call the doctor then. I am usually hesitant about going to the doctor in good times because of an autoimmune disease and I really don't want to go now. I did speak with a friend who told me about a telemedicine opportunity and am strongly considering that as my best option.
It means so much for you to check on me. Thank you. I hope you are doing well and stay that way. These are scary times, there is no doubt.

(612 posts)It attacked me, too. (Sleep, that is.)
I hope you're doing OK. Are you eating? Getting some soup into you if no real appetite?
Had asked about flu 'cause it seems like it can sometimes jump on 'ya quicker than a mugger in a dark alley. I sure get not wanting to risk going to the doc, was thinking more along the lines of them calling something in for you and then maybe someone could deliver it to you or pick it up for you.
O2 is a bit shaky, low enough for many people to get dizzy. Is that better today? Are you at all asthmatic? Have an inhaler or nebulizer at home if you need it?
Boy, I'm full of questions, ain't I? Just concerned about you, dear. Hope to see you soon...

(5,201 posts)and room-mate, who I hadn't spoken to for over a year.
Great conversation, and I'm feeling so good that I finally made the time to phone her.
The glow of finally doing what I hadn't made time for, plus the great re-connect itself, should last me for a few days.
Moral: Don't put off what will improve your life and outlook.

WTG! A great way to reach out of our isolation, and I'll just bet she was so tickled to hear from you, not to mention surprised.
