(7,603 posts)friends with; kids all an hour or two away; never was in a big hurry to meet people before the virus hit, so it gets a bit lonely. Today I actually shaved to go get blood drawn for my Tuesday doctor appointment.... Ha!
So, yeah, I could be better. But I have a comfortable home and have been keeping in touch with kids and old friends via phone and internet, so can't complain. Many have it far, far, far worse. Glad I enjoy my own cooking. Damn sure looking forward to November!

(71,910 posts)i'm actually a bit of a hermit, and now i am so busy in my garden.
but this little eden i got goin here is practically crawling w people who really need it. those are all the good people, tho, and it has brought me a lot of joy.
i am used to looking out my back window to see some neighbor kids, w mom or gramps in tow, talking to my chickens.
now they are always there. whole families, daily visitors, bringing them little offerings.
people watching has always been one of the big perks of my little urban farm. now, yeah. when i talk about it pouring down blessings, these perfect little babies are #1.

(15,719 posts)The barn where I volunteer (59 rescued horses) was finally allowing volunteers to come back in and I got to groom Arlo and Gandalf and do some chores. It felt wonderful! Plus, there is nothing quite like the smell of a barn.

it's killing her. last i talked to her they were getting ready to at least let the volunteers in.
high on the list of shit that should never have closed their doors to the free fucking workers, but....
hoping whoever made that stupid decision pays for it in 2022.
much as the people miss it, anyone who would lock away such intelligent creature needs to come back as some sort of single cell organism that lives on shit.

(71,910 posts)flat out worst puppy i ever raised. ate 2 couches, and 2 rooms of lay flat vinyl flooring, a couple sq ft at a time.
but man. what a guardian he is.
i called him punky because no other word came to mind when i looked at him besides punk.
then he was bear, house bear, watch bear.
but when i saw how he could tell if someone was walking around my farm, or anywhere near, i started calling him radar.
and being as irish as irish gets, when people ask, radar o'reilly? the answer is yes.
hugs to you friend. hope you pass through chi again when this nightmare is over.
