Fucking rumination

I wrote about the communication issue I am having with an ex freind.

https://www.democraticunderground.com/115110702

I thought and looked at the replies and thought
y'all are right time to cut this person off. Made my decision..

But I can't stop ruminating over it. My PTSD is intrusive as fuck.

I roll it over in my head what I should have said or done. It's like I hear her.

I wonder if I am the asshole causing this problem. The anxiety sucks . Doesn't help I am alone 24-7 either.

I just wish the rumination shit would stop.

I don't want to think about it anymore and nothing I ruminate over is going to change the decision to let her go.

Shit. PTSD sucks.

brain sharks, because they pop up out of nowhere and try to pull you under. I hope your sharks all die, and quickly!

Have you ever tried rubber band intervention? It is part of trauma informed care.

You put a rubber band on your wrist & when unpleasant thoughts or memories occur, you snap the rubberband, then immediately sing a song (silently or aloud) until the thoughts or memories are gone. The song can be anything, but generally something happy & uplifting. If nothing comes to mind, sing the A-B-C's. 👍

Consistency is key in retraining your thought process.

I hope you find this helpful.

And this works I can probably tell you. Find some really good ASMR videos to help you focus on something else and also relax you

The ex-drinker misses the drink, but knows it was going to eventually kill them so they endure the longing for drink, and take it, day-by-day, hour-by-hour.

There are coping methods. I have used EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and NLP (Neuro linguistic Programming) both just simple ways to train your brain to stop driving you nuts.

Easiest way is to decide whenever you have a negative though, jump in and change the narrative. Example: Change "I should have ..." to "No, I did my best." I could give more examples if I knew your self talk. Just change the narrative in your head.

Also never ask why. Why cannot be answered. Instead ask what if? What if I met a new friend?

or just write about it and get it out of your system.

someday soon something will happen and you will think- i have to tell her about this. then you will go whew, no i dont.
when that happens, pat yourself on the back.
