Thanks to everyone who responded to my messy-house thread with tips, hints, and suggestions.
Today. I took the initiative to scrub clean the absolutely grungiest section of the floor. Like, bleach and hot water, on the floor with a Scrubbie.
It looks and feels so much better now. Small victories

(6,482 posts)I have said it for decades. A clean house/room/space always helps with depression and anxiety. Just being able to move around without tripping over things. To be able to sit in a room and relax in the feeling that it looks fresh and ready for use. I cannot explain the intricacies of why this works for me, but it does. And, as stated above, the act of cleaning always seems to be calming and stress-reducing.

(5,201 posts)Order in our lives frees us.
When we are thus free, we can enjoy/appreciate the large and the small present in our lives.
We can relax.
We can breathe freely.
Spoken by one for whom the energy to make life orderly is a constant struggle.
Congratulations!
