Lately I havent been sleeping well. The last two days I have been awake the whole time.
When I try to sleep my skin torments me its tight it itches every few seconds in different spots. My eyes feel like a long hair is wrapped around them.
I try to sleep but I cant.
I have noticed my appetite is shitty.
Im unmotivated and having trouble doing
stuff and stuff I like.
I dont want this shit to get worse. Wish me luck that I can sleep tonight.
Because I really need it.
At 10 gonna take my meds and wait until I am tired do some breathing and go to bed at 11. Wish me luck.

(34,203 posts)I don't mean running miles or lifting weights, just getting more moment in your day. I've found that I do better when I keep moving.
If you have some physical problems, there are still ways to move more than you do now.
You might look into trying an occupational therapist. They work with all kinds and levels of activities. Moving more can help with sleep and anxiety.
hope this may help and could be worth looking into.
Best of luck.

(20,606 posts)I recall being a teenager with panic attacks. Falling asleep at night was almost impossible sometimes. Then, when exhaustion struck and I finally drifted off, despite being sooooo tired, I may sleep only an hour or so and awake to immediate terror setting in. And I mean immediate. I was often amazed (and distraught) that the panic could resume to instantaneously. Then the next bout of sleep could be hours away.
I'd try to calm myself by reading and playing music. Reading would sometimes help me feel drowsy and start to nod off again.
This all played out over three or four years. There were stretches that were so bad that I contemplated suicide. My mom would stay up with me some nights and talk me down.
But then there were better periods where I might get five or six hours of sleep and I'd feel so refreshed. It waxed and waned.
As I matured into adulthood, I still had occasional panic attacks. It would generally last only a few days, however. Life became more tolerable. Good thing I never gave in.
And now, over the past week, I haven't slept much more than two hours at a time, maybe three to five hours a night. Why? We adopted an 8-week old puppy and she needs to go out often for the housebreaking process. Being this sleep deprived reminds me of my teenage years. Thankfully I'm not tormented by panic attacks, but boy oh boy, are my eyelids ever heavy!
Pleasant dreams to you, I_UndergroundPanther!

(4,398 posts)are in this strange edge of a depression. I have the same symptoms as you... the itchiness of skin (which I've tried just passing off as the dry heat in the house), even the strand of hair... tho mine is this long wisp that's flying down the front of my face. I try to trace it back to whichever cat put it there, but, nope... they're innocent. I even had to -make- myself get up and get ready to take my grandson to the movies for his birthday today. Most nights this past week, if I slept at all, it was just an hour or two all night long. If I was lucky, I could go back to sleep for a couple of more hours and keep doing it that way, but I never felt rested.
I wonder if some of us who are experiencing this (and you're not the only one I've heard talk of it the last couple of weeks), are picking up on (warning: "woo woo" all the negative vibrations of all the crap that's hitting the world stage right now... and it's just hit a "peak overload" state right now.
I know one of my add-ons was getting a bequeathment from a very dear Shaman friend of mine who's losing his fight to cancer - the power necklace he never took off. That was a big one. A very small one was admitting old age had even my hair thinning (vanity, thy name is woman!). Both were big reminders of mortality for me. Add to them what's going on in Ukraine and what is probably coming, and the idiots trying to kill our own country. Too much death/mortality... both actual and comparative... for my system to process and handle. Took awhile to come to this realization of the links. Hopefully, coming to the realization will help me sleep better, but at this point, I doubt it. I still feel too anxious and jittery.
But maybe you've had something that's been showing up in your world in the same type of way -- if so, maybe chasing it down could help tell you what your mind is trying to say but can't, for whatever reason. Just a shot in the dark. YMMV
And then we have the generational planets doing their dance above our heads. Some days, sleep or no, I just want to stay in bed with covers pulled up tight over my head, cats surrounding me with their purrs!

(3,262 posts)I had years of getting into bed only to have unbearable itching for almost an hour or so before I could begin to fall asleep, especially my legs. It turns out I have a condition called dermatographism or sceleraderma. My body produces antihistamines to things that rub against my skin. Or did. Changing into my pjs did it. Even my scalp itched like crazy. An allergist diagnosed it and I still take an antihistamine before bed. Things are much improved. Once a friend suggested moving to pure olive oil soap, which kept me from being exposed to some chemicals that bothered my skin. I still find it best to stick to olive oil-based soap.
My other insomnia came a few years later and involved waking up and not being able to go back to sleep. My doctor did bloodwork and noted magnesium was low. Told me to take two doses a day, said it tended to drop off as we age and plays a role in sleep. Sure enough, that was a complete turnaround.
Insomnia is miserable. I hope you find relief.

(3,262 posts)I had to go off all of my antihistamines and other meds related to allergies for maybe four-five days for the tests. The itching was awful.
In my case, I've got a number of pollen- and mold-related allergies also.
They'd learned new things since my earlier allergy testing so finally I feel like my allergies are under control.
