Just popped a lemon-flavored L-Theanine tab.

Depressed.

Wednesday is the date of closing.

Selling the family house.

Was conceived in it. Brought home from the hospital to live in it.

Childhood joys and traumas. Moved out 40 years ago.

Father and two dogs died in it.

No evidence inside to show my family and I lived there.

No, can't keep it. 14 rooms and a basement and an attic. Just me with no family. Plus, too many "ghosts" and memories.

Getting the right price, but that's no consolation.

As of Wednesday morning, I can no longer walk onto the property.

The cord will have been cut.

One foot in front of the other. But after, if you can, find a way to be kind to yourself. Give yourself a gift, a day, a respite.

Will probably cry with each creak of a floor board and the sound of a door closing.

I couldn't wait to get rid of it. I had to hold on to it until my mother passed. It became a rental, with the worst tenants from hell.

I drive by it, every couple of months. No emotion.

between a home and a house. We are in a beautiful old house now for 30 years. I tell people I will never leave. When I die, I plan on haunting it. But my neighbor for all these years has died. She was 95, a lovely Latvian woman. Now her house has been sold and the inspectors are crawling around. I don't know who bought it, but it won't be my old friend and I am very sad.

Although not for this particular thing. See, my family were poor and we moved a lot. So, the concept of 'the old homestead' was just not one I had growing up. I was surprised if we stayed in the same house for more than five years. Hell, both grandmothers moved twice before I was an adult. But, I do understand about what you are going through. For me, it is productions. When that last scene is done. When they start to take it all down. When it is time to say goodbye to people who you have literally become family with. I am just as bad as anyone else. I remember when a production of 'The Sound of Music' that I was in closed. The adults wept more than the kids did! But, time marches on. Just hang on to those good times you had there. It is okay to feel saddened about not being able to be there anymore, but you have new places and new things. And, those great memories. (At least I hope there are a few great ones from there...)
