Situations have formed the 'perfect storm' for triggering my anxiety

Facing the holidays, which I dread, and fearing the damage I strongly suspect trump* will be inflicting on this nation.

I'm thinking about going back to bed and snuggling with the kidcats.

I’m with you on the holidays. I’m going for Thanksgiving with some very loved relatives. Deep in my heart I would rather be home with my dogs. Christmas I have managed to escape, somewhat. I give gifts but try to ignore the other festivities. Now I feel as though the glorious months of November and December have been submerged by too much, too much. I do remember all the holidays when I had the spirit. 😇😉

The original plan was my nephew and his new bride were going to host it at their 'new' house. Unfortunately, his father his father's toxic S.O. will be there so both my brother and I declined the invitation.

She's been so disrespectful to me, my brother and my late sister's memory that I refuse to have anything to do with her, and because of her we are now estranged from my former brother in law. It's sad because for 30+ years, I've thought of him as a brother.

My new niece thought this would be the perfect opportunity to bring the 'family' back together. She should have checked with her sister in law. The S.O. is not, and will never be, family.

Just as I predicted, the S.O. is taking over everything and the kids are starting to regret this plan. They've decided to go through with it, but they are coming to my house on Saturday to deep fry a turkey and we will have a relaxed meal, some good wine and I can get filled in on how the Thursday meal went.

to bring into the family. We have a couple of similar situations. Saturday will be just as good as Thursday. Enjoy your feast and stop being so anxious. Remember: your environment is lovely, you are loved by the KidCats, you are loved by family, and you are loved by us (your DU family). 🥰

I'm going out to lunch with my sisters in law. That should lift the day.

I contend that neither has anyone ever said, "I wish I'd spent less time with my cats".

Take the kidcat break. Repeat as needed. Or desired.
