Do Not Combine SSRIs and Melatonin

Maybe all of you knew this already, but I’ve been doing it for months and I had a near-breakdown. Please take my advice, no one should go through what I just experienced.

I checked, and sure enough, there are multiple credible medical sites recommending against it.
Sorry you found out the hard way.
My dad had a similar experience. He was on a heart med & an oral diabetes medicine.
The diabetes got worse & je had a heart attack anyway. Bad enough that he needed quadruple bypass.
5 or 6 years after the heart attack & surgery, a study came out showing that if one was on both meds neither worked well. In fact, they were close to doing nothing at all.
Even the doctors didn't know. I always wondered how many people had the same outcome as my dad before they made the connection.

Prescribed serotonin re-uptake inhibitors are beneficial for some patients. I do not know anything about melatonin supplements. I am thinking that they are sold as over-the-counter products.

You have my best wishes for return to wellness.

If you need help try Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Backed by strong statistical evidence.

Thank you. My sweetie takes venlafaxine and was prescribed melatonin for sleep. I stopped giving it to him because he was able to sleep without it.
