Related: About this forumI am finally seeking help for my debilitating anxiety!
I have an appointment with a psychologist who specializes in anxiety and uses cognitive behavioral therapy. I've already had an appointment with a psychiatrist and am on medication. I am so excited. I have been dealing with this my whole life. It has kept me from finishing college. It has kept me from holding a job, and I am so ready to learn the tools I need to finally be able to do the things I want to do.

(22,845 posts)I have a daughter with anxiety disorder, but she has resisted counseling/therapy so far. She sees a psychiatrist periodically for prescriptions, but they only help to a degree. She didn't finish college either.
Let us know how it's working for you.

(5,201 posts)anxiety for the last four years.
She is a senior who raised a family and led a very active life until this struck.
Between that & depression she had to move into a senior living facility.
She was given all manner of meds to no avail until the last month or so, when Risperdal was given.
She is now in charge of her life again, when hope had nearly faded that she would ever be able to cope.
My understanding is that Risperdal is given to autistic and/or ADHD youth.
I know all meds are not for all people, but just wanted to share in hope of sparing someone the agony my friend (and her family) have gone through.
Best wishes to you.
