psych, individual therapy and marriage counseling today

not sure how i managed to schedule it all on the same day, but it was a bit exhausting.

i am positively in love with my therapist and don't give a damn that i'm paying out-of-pocket, she's worth every red cent.

the joint session got a little bit heated, but that's because we both tried to pin him down a bit on things. he's pretty damn invasive and doesn't do well with very pointed questions. but he's trying and i need to keep telling myself that.

things are so much better than they were six, even three, months ago and i think we're on the right track. i'm planning our anniversary extravaganza right now and want it to be a bit more than what we normally do. not only do we hit the five-year mark, but i thought we were headed for divorce not that long ago.

i'm in such a better head place than i was earlier this year and my therapist has really been so helpful in getting me to set goals and really examine some of the shit i'm dealing with.

the marriage counseling is going reasonably well, but i am to the point where i feel i need to take a bit more control of where we're going with it. yeah, we're addressing the big picture, but there's some nitty gritty that affects our everyday shit that we need to start digging into. we're going through the psych program at the university and part of me feels that, with all my years of experience in both individual and family counseling, i know how to better guide the sessions. but i'm staying patient and taking the small steps.

ok, i'm done word vomiting hope you all are well.

I've been in therapy several times for childhood traumas and their adult consequences, so I have a pretty good idea what you're talking about.

My husband and I briefly did some couple's counseling as part of my own therapy, and it was useful. We've solved what brought us there, thankfully.

I still see my therapist; she is great! She understands me fully and this helps keep me centered in this crazy world. I have some pretty good stresses going on even now, but she gives me an outlet where I feel safe talking about them. She approves of how I'm dealing with this stuff.
