Thought I'd play a larger role than have been called upon to do, hence 'lonely.'

(10,420 posts)I celebrated with my mom's side of the family today and we all had a good time.
The sister in question has a young daughter who just turned one year old yesterday. We stopped by for her birthday party today before we went to mom's. I think my sister is really lost right now and it's going to be a long time before she gets herself together. I'm sure that doesn't bode well for her child.
That's the cycle. I'm finding it harder and harder to find fault with anyone when considering psychological issues. For the most part, we are all just doing the best we can. Sometimes that's pretty shitty, like what you are going through right now with your children. It seems like most people spend their youthful years stumbling around in the darkness looking for a light switch.

(71,911 posts)i hated my folks for a good long time. it wasnt till i got the farm that i really appreciated what i did get from my dad. and my mother's patience and acceptance of the blows that life dealt her seemed like weakness to me back then.
and i also cannot fault them for sucking up the attention from their dad that they never got as kids. they have told me that they feel like he was just absent from their lives as kids, and he was. how can i fault them for a hunger that kept me in a mostly unhappy marriage for 30 years. thirst for his love kept me strung along. thirst for his love haunted them as kids. how can i fault them for drinking deeply, even when they know there is more to it than them.
we are a sad species. amazing we are still around.
i suppose it will shake out some, but i will have a hard time forgiving, let alone forgetting.
