This is the Mental Health Support group. Nasty, unkind, abrasive, and uncalled-for comments are not welcome here.
I'm putting this here instead of GD because, well, GD is GD. Always at least one person has to get nasty.
Am I the only one who worries a bit that either 1) Mueller find no smoking guns or 2) Mueller will find a smoking gun, either indict Trump (unlikely ?) or at least make a full report to Congress on his finding a smoking gun of Trump's treason and illegal behavior, and that Trump will NOT be impeached and convicted and refuse to leave office ? I am still convinced that Trump will fire Mueller via someone at DOJ, but I think whoever replaces Rosenstein would appoint someone very competent in his place (or at least I damn sure hope so). I think he would have to fire Rosenstein and maybe a few others to finally get someone willing to be a tool of injustice.
Worst case scenario, this nightmare continues until November 2020 and he's tossed out of office. An even WORSE case scenario is that, god forbid, he is re-elected AGAIN. I really don't want to cope with the Liar and Narcissistic-Sociopath-in-Chief until 2024, ugh ugh ugh.
When the Republicans go after Mueller, it does cause me a bit of angst. This was not the case, generally, with Watergate in 1972-1974. There was more respect for the legal process back then by Republicans, but of course there was no internet back then or 24 hour news cycle.
Sigh. If you don't have these anxieties, that's fine. I just wanted to compare notes, so to speak. All the best to all of you.

(36,204 posts)Eroding norms, destroying the rule of law, the separation of powers and sewing fear into our human intel agencies to the point America loses the ability to protect herself further from attack. IMO what is happening in this country is unprecedented on almost every level.
I fear what will be left when he finally is forced to leave office. Im on edge, irritable and very angry at republicans who stand by and watch because they profit personally.

(7,588 posts)these traitors destroy the country while seemingly nothing is being done to stop them. I hope we can recover from this . Very hard some days to get out of the funk.

(10,420 posts)I know it's unpopular to say so on this site, but I think Trump is going to serve out his term. However, I do think he will be defeated in 2020 when he runs for re-election.
I don't even get into the details of the whole fiasco anymore. I just know it's bad. I scan the headlines and read a story here and there that seems particularly interesting. That's about it. It's better for my peace of mind.

(37,468 posts)I feel an obligation to know something about what's going on, but not all the precise details. The precise details just leave me angry and depressed, two emotions I can't afford, especially the depressed part.

(56,736 posts)It was the famous "Saturday Night Massacre," when he fired special prosecutor Archibald Cox. It didn't help him in the end, but we didn't have Mitch McTurtle leading the Senate then, or Lyin' Ryan as Speaker, either.
I think the Republican move to see what Mueller's evidence is (itself, already unprecedented) is an effort to pass on to the White House what Mueller has amassed so far, and maybe more important, an indication of where he's going with what he has. I think that if Mueller is seen as a threat to anyone close enough to Trump to bargain immunity from prosecution in exchange for solidly incriminating evidence against Trump, his family, or Pence, THEN they will toss him. As long as they THINK they're safe, he will be allowed to "play." The moment they feel truly threatened, they will act.
We can only hope they miscalculate and act too late. They just might. They could well be arrogant enough to think Mueller's "got nuthin'" and then realize he had plenty, but too late for them to realize this from anywhere but the defendant's box in the court trial.

(37,468 posts)It was giant news back then. I hope they miscalculate also.
