My son's first botox treatment

After the waiting and hoping, he had his first treatment today. And now we still wait and see what happens. I know there is no magic wave a wand and it's all better. It's not a boo boo I can kiss and make better. He is resting now. I hope he is resting peacefully. I hope he isn't in any pain. I hope and pray to God that he gets some relief. I am so grateful for the medical care providers and the insurance.

I am grateful for the university and their support. I wish for him healing and freedom from pain. I wish for him hope and motivation. Love and light. Positive and healing vibes. I want to check on him. But I know I have to let him be. I was so exhausted from my migraine that I took a nap. I feel better now. I told him whatever it takes. We are going to keep working and fighting to find the answer or answers. Whatever he needs, it is going to happen.

So I send a message to the universe. My son is a beautiful soul. He is thoughtful and kind. Funny and smart. His generosity and compassion know no bounds. I wish him all the love and happiness that is imaginable. And then more. Please heal my baby. He is an adult but he will always be my baby. From the bottom of my heart, I send this wish out into the world. May my son be wrapped in protection and the cloak of rejuvenation. Miracles happen every day. I know I have witnessed plenty. My son has benefited from several and I truly believe another one is headed his way. Faith will not be denied.

Chronic migraines, chronic insomnia and depression. It's such a triple whammy. Hoping one is managed and that helps the rest fall in to place.

7. I replied to you a few weeks ago and gave you a lot of Botox info.

It takes up to 9 months for it to work so be patient. It works a little right away and any help is a huge relief if he has migraines like I do. There is also a new treatment that was just approved that I heard about from both the person who referred me to the neurologist and the neurologist herself. It is CGRP called Aimovig (a peptyd/calcitoniun). If you need any info on it or the Botox let me know. Has he been taking the Imitrex/Sumatriptan like I suggested with caffeine, aspirin and acetaminophen?

8. I know I remember

The Sumatriptan did nothing for him. They gave him Zolmitriptan instead. I was reading about the new medication. And of course nothing is ever quick and easy. I know relief will take time. Anything is better than suffering half of each month with migraines. I have migraines but his are much worse. But after trying so many other medications, the neurologist approved the botox without further tests or meds. He saw her at one clinic before she transferred to the U of MN. He loves her so when I found out she transferred, he transferred his care. So all his records from her previous work with him went right to her and there was no need to repeat anything. We will wait and see how it goes.

They make sure you have seen psychiatrists and primary care doctors and have tried all of their pills and suggestions before they seriously consider you for Botox treatment. My doctor said that it has proven to work throughout 40 years of testing. The theory is that migraines are genetic, women get them more often and it is considered a brain disease and a genetic defect. There is a chemical in our body that accumulates and we can't get rid of it. It activates the nerve to the head and it sends out pain. As I wrote before, when I recently had a very high fever and the flu for two weeks the migraines came back for some reason. I will have to mention that to my doctor when I get the next round of injections next week. I hope the Botox provides relief...the suffering makes a person have no quality of life.

Except he didn't see a psychiatrist. Even when he was hospitalized, all he got was a psychiatric clinical nurse. The care plan named a psychiatrist he never met and a meeting with a care team before he was discharged that never happened. He saw his primary care and neurologist and got here. He is open to seeing a psychologist though. But he is an adult and gets to decide. What's different is that he is still on my insurance but had to sign a release of information. But the coverage is excellent. I am glad I switched jobs. It's just another step for him.

a year but I have to pay about $1,200 with the ACA. Since I am on a very limited income I have to have the ACA with tax credits since I am too ill to work and on retirement disability. 25% of my income is for the ACA. This country is really screwed up when it comes to healthcare and pharmaceuticals. What a rip off! The Donald promised that he would negotiate lower costs for both...still waiting for that! I wonder how many of his constituents are aware of that additional lie? Roseanne sure did mention it on her show but didn't blame him of course.

12. True that

I know botox was more expensive when it first came out but it has come down some. His hospital stay was completely covered. I am still amazed by that but so grateful and relieved. Yeah right, Trump was negotiating for his big pharma friends. Roseanne is a despicable POS. Obamacare has saved many lives including my son's. I let President Obama know how much it means to me that he gets to stay on my insurance. Hopefully we get it figured out before he goes on his own. There is still time. Trump's constituents are fucking clueless but they don't care.

I wrote to him to thank him for all he did for this country. I read his letter from time to time. It inspires and motivates me. I truly love President Obama. He is so kind and compassionate. He makes me proud and hopeful for our country. We will overcome the obstacles and adversity.
