I'm afraid it might be too expensive, but I'm still curious about it.

It's working for me and it has cost me $0.00. That's a good thing

(1,532 posts)I just need to put the work into menu planning instead of looking for an easy (but expensive!) fix, I guess.

In other words...I also need to put much more effort into menue planning. That's the hardest part for me.

(2,185 posts)My daughter worked for them as a weight loss counselor...
(long story: she's a grad student looking for any kind of work..
didn't stay long.. they abuse their employees...)
Jenny Craig, like many 'weight loss' organizations is about profit.
They want to 'hook' customers so in order to lose weight and maintain the loss,
they must stay with the program: it costs bit $$$ to buy the food and stay with
the advisors and counselors. there is little health training to teach people
how to change their thinking about emotional eating and food,
and how to be motivated to make goals, and discipline to exercise.
It's all about buying into a system where the work is done for you.
Weight loss is like having another full time job.
There is no easy, short cut...
It's work.
What worked for me to lose 80 pounds since the summer of 2010
was www.sparkpeople.com
An amazing online community that is FREE, and offer tools and resource
to transform your health and your life.
Yes.. its a program where you must track your food intake,
where you track your exercise..
but they have wonderful tools, and many online opportunities to connect
with others.
I can't say enough about it. Did I tell you it's free?

(1,532 posts)I appreciate it. I've recently joined Spark People and really like it. I've been trying to find the perfect weight loss program, but what I really need to do is just commit to losing the weight. I find myself rationalizing reasons to overeat (I'm stressed, I'm too busy, I'll do it next week, yada, yada). My head may know that my health is more important than making myself feel better with food, but my heart still wants the sugar/fat/salt fix that comforts me.
And congrats on your weight loss. That's awesome!!!
