Gotta kick it into high gear due to surgery.

Saw the colorectal surgeon today who is scrubbing in on my endo cancer surgery. He said that if I could lose 5-10 lbs before surgery, it would lessen the visceral fat in the case I would need either a temporary or permanent ileostomy.

Surgery is Sept 9. That’s 27 days.

I’m already doing low carb bordering on keto. I think I just have to go more keto and move more. Easy to say. Hope I can make it work. All of a sudden I feel like I don’t know enough to make this work and I have to cram for an exam.

Kind of scared. At least they did say that my surgery wouldn’t be postponed, even if they have to shut down due to COVID.

Everyday helped me lose two sizes. Also, check out the Salk Institute diet.

YMMV, I'm rooting for you. Good luck!

There’s a really good low impact exercise program there called Classical Stretch. Takes 23 minutes, and moves every muscle. It has really helped me with strength and flexibility, not so much for weight loss, but for recovering my muscles from suspected corona virus in January 2020. I started to feel better almost immediately, and am so much better after a year of simple stretches and work on my muscles.

It comes on my teevee on the create network, a channel that is part of PBS.

Sounds like something I could (and should) do. My flexibility needs work 😊

I’ve always been sedentary by nature. My hobbies are drawing/painting, Polymer clay jewelry/sculpture, needle felting, and chorale singing. Plus, my day job is a web forms developer, so not much movement unless I make myself get up and do it - and that is my biggest issue!

Tried to do 40 min on the treadmill tonight while binge watching Netflix, but only got through 25 min. Last week and up to this Monday wasn’t a problem. I guess even though I’m feeling ok, the chemo on Tuesday sapped my stamina. Tomorrow I’ll try for two 20 min. I should feel back to normal after the weekend though.

Not entirely sure why. but I've lost nearly 50 pounds since then.

I honestly consider myself fortunate with the appetite loss. I don't feel a lot of personal responsibility, and yet I've lost all this weight.

Much of my life I've struggled with weight loss, so I understand. I wish I could offer more substantial advice. I will say that perhaps if you tune in carefully to your body, it will become clear.

No matter what, I offer you love and support.

Thank you! Good news after surgery! My docs did a wonderful job. They said the mass had shrunk a bit more with the 4th chemo and they were able to remove the mass without doing either one of the ostomies! They did move the ureter, put one stent in, removed 6 inches of colon. In addition to shortening the vagina a bit.

The first night was rough. Surgery was over at 7-something and they came in and checked my blood sugar every hour. I didn’t get moved to a room until after 12am. The nurses were saying I had the “Dream Team” of senior surgeons. Two other surgeons scrubbed in, and several assistants and students observed.

It’s the second day out they’ve removed the bandages, I’ve walked 8 laps around the nurses station, and am on minimal pain meds.

So — so far, so good!
