Finally made it over here

Time, years of busy, busy, run, run and now it's finally time to take care of myself. This doesn't just mean a diet-it means cleaner, non processed eating, more exercise that I actually enjoy and will stick to, and finding time to stimulate my mind.

So, I'll be lurking around here from time to time, just to see what's up.

(As to the exercise, I've found so far that I prefer hiking to nearly everything else. The scenery constantly changes, as does the terrain. I find a path and I don't always know where it takes me. Plus, it burns calories like crazy and time passes quickly for me.)

positive changes are good

hiking is my activity of choice, though I'm am quickly learning to love biking... I love trails and paths

the trail I found myself on today... in 100 degree heat... whew!

and I love hiking up to them. Yesterday, I found an old path that, 4 miles later, led to an abandoned cemetery. I plan on going back there soon-I love old cemeteries!

All the classes and such never held my attention for all that long. (Except yoga, which I've always liked and might start taking towards the winter.) I just like the constant scenery change with hiking and the idea of never quite knowing where you're really going. (Always in a park so I should be safe, though some of the paths are very old.)

Years ago I would have substituted some diet food but now I realize that's not good. It's best to eat food that is simple in its preparation and has a low preservative count. If I do that it's no longer a diet.
