Question about brining fish

I usually brine fish fillets before cooking them. I usually just pat them dry with some paper toweling. They tend to be a bit salty. Is it okay to rinse them first?

any excess brine solution ...then pat dry, leave open to air in refrigerator for about an hour ...not always but often...

I bought a nice fillet of Scottish Salmon and don't want to saltiness to overtake its natural flavor.
