What's for Dinner, Sun., Nov. 24, 2024

I'm going out for dinner with my friend to Olive Garden. We go there because we're unimaginative and can't think of anyplace else that doesn't cost at arm and a leg.For whatever reason, they've kept their menu fairly reasonable.

I'm thinking chicken parmesan.

wings (and a thigh) look good, as does sweet potato; not particularly inspiring.

Ice cream later, and 'house made' raspberrry pastries from same grocery, which does them pretty well, and inexpensive; they last.

Sounds great to me. I'd tag along if you'd let me.

When my parents were alive Daddy insisted on taking his girls (four of us) out to eat regularly. Olive Garden was a regular thing for us. Mother had become unable to cook and she loved lasagne. I'm all about the salad and the dressing is addictive.

I miss those days so much.

I'm having some trouble adjusting to being alone presently. I'm thinking about trying to make some new friends. Maybe after the holidays.

I hope you have a wonderful time with your friend. Pick a few onions out of your salad for me.

And as always,

Bon Appétit!!

❤️

I had the chicken parm which came with a side of pasta and tomato sauce. We had an appetizer, so I only had a few bites of my entree. The appetizer was lasagna frites (sp?) They had both tomato sauce and cream sauce--were very good! Brought my entree home.

I almost had the lasagna, though. It's so much work to make at home that it's worth getting it when dining out.

I didn't have a drink but my friend did. She had some big pink drink that had salt around the rim. All kinds of things like umbrellas, fruit on spears, etc. to dress it up. Believe me, it was such a pretty drink I sat there watching and questioning--maybe I should get one. But the truth of the matter is, I don't like alcohol. I just love kombucha, though, and was craving one the entire time.

Oh, and the salad! It was perfect, with crispy lettuce, lightly dressed.

Yeah, make some new friends so you can go out to Olive Garden and have some fun in the new year!

It sounds like you had a lovely time. The drink sounds mesmerizing and distracting.

I'm not a fan of adult beverages as a consumer either. As a healthcare provider with related medical training I'm privy to TMI about the broad range of devastating health outcomes related to their consumption. But I'm not opposed to recognizing them for their artistic value.

I understand that take home issue which is never a bad thing with Olive Garden. I'm glad you had fun.

Thanks for being a pal, most of all. I hope you have a lovely day.

Stir fry in evoo: chopped onions, celery, carrots, yellow bell pepper, cabbage and garlic. When almost soft add chopped zucchini and sliced mushrooms. Add veggie broth, canned fire roasted tomatoes and a few T of tomato paste. Add pasta (Today I used whole wheat macaroni), canned drained chickpeas and cannelloni beans, and thawed frozen peas. Add dried oregano, basil and fresh chopped parsley. Simmer until the pasta is done. Salt and pepper to taste. Nice crusty Italian bread with Miyoko’s butter. Iced black tea with lemon. Cheers! 🥂
