I just finished Big Food Shopping.

Not necessarily for Thanksgiving as I'm not cooking and hosting.

To replenish my pantry.

Lots of stuff is on sale like flour, sugar, ricotta, coffee, butter, walnuts, pecans, mozzarella, cheddar, pasta, foil, and more. I've saved more than $76 and approximately 50%.

I got out of work early today and did two quick tours with a list and savings cards.

We just did our typical Thanksgiving dinner shopping this morning. The grocery we typically shop at has a customer rewards program where you earn a small amount on each purchase. We never redeem our rewards until Thanksgiving. This year we had a little over $125.00. So, our big spend for the holiday shopping and some weekly stuff only cost us $23.00. The only thing we didn't get was a turkey. The grocery wanted $3.49 a pound for a fresh turkey and Costco had them for .99 a pound.

The grocery rewards program is nice, but it's just a little rebate for overcharging you the rest of the year

I hear they’ve gone up in price, wonder how long they can keep giving them away.

and bought what I guess to be about a year's worth of chilis, once I turn them into paste and can them. Once they're gone, they'll either just be gone or be much more expensive. I need some more tiny canning jars - I guesstimate a 1/2 cup jar to be equivalent to 6-7 chilis.

I'm also going to buy large bags of potatoes - canned soup and trying to freeze mashed potatoes. I'm guessing we're going to be eating a lot of soup, beans, rice, etc. Bags of frozen veg as I can afford them. It's funny; I thought we'd be eating a tiny bit of meat and making up the volume with veg. It seems that the veg is going to be in short supply first.

This weekend, I'll make a large batch of red beans with a ham hock and can most of it. We just used our last jar from the last batch.

Before the store gets crowded (hopefully, might go a little earlier). My 6 year old granddaughter loves to go with me but not today although they’re off school today. Love her to pieces but I always end up forgetting stuff (and buying extra) when she’s along.

Hubby went out today and got a full order - almost everything for tomorrow. It was mostly fruits, veggies, and canned goods, eggs, some spices. The order came to $160. I thought it would be close to $300. I guess it was considerably lower since I already had my turkey (which was a 15lb for $16) and hubby hit some sales.
