2# of chuck roast, potatoes, celery, onions, beef broth, tomato paste, low & slow cooking, a half hour before serving cabbage & mushrooms added in.
No real recipe, just what I rember seeing my Mom & best friend do.
Sometimes meal prep will smell so danged good.

Not seen is the thyme leaves. The tomatoes & avocado are for later this week

(37,493 posts)I put the thermometer in a beef cube, it was done. Carrots & potatoes are soft.
So now everything is resting before I divvy it up for freezing for next weeks

(29,629 posts)They're starchy so they provide some natural thickening and I like the taste.
I don't use tomato in my beef stew at all. I find it gives a metallic taste (I think this is peculiar to me). I also often turn the leftovers into pot pie or add dumplings, and neither one would work with tomatoes, IMO.
