Related: About this forumIs aluminum siding better than vinyl siding?
Is this one of those "they don't make it like they used to" things? My siding *looks* fine (It could use a paint job), but nothing is falling, etc...I think I could save thousands by just painting it. Does anyone ehre have any experience with this?

tempting to go to some nice wood clapboard, but it is spendy.

That's about it.
Just paint the aluminum siding if it's in good shape.
ETA: Forgot about one advantage of vinyl: It's harder to make a permanent dent in vinyl.

(6,133 posts)I come from a restoration/preservation background. Maybe the house has wood underneath the aluminum. If so, leave it alone. You will preserve history.

We bought our house with vinyl siding. I hate it. If I had money I'd tear it out and repair the stucco underneath.
