Does any one have experience with chlorine free (Copper Ionization) systems for swimming pool?

(26,752 posts)I spent all day in a salt pool this summer and never realized it had salt in it until the host mentioned it.
What a delightful experience. No nasty chlorine AND the salt was almost unnoticeable.
I always thought "yuck who would want to swim in a salt pool".... boy was I wrong.

(2,681 posts)Salt pools use a chlorine generator to produce chlorine. The level of chlorine is much lower but there is still chlorine. I get a chlorine rash just taking a shower.

(135,425 posts)Of course, it's just in one of those uber-giant "soup bowl" pools, but it does the trick. The kids enjoy it, and even the adults as well. It's very NON-chlorinated, but clean.

(2,681 posts)Ozone is used as an oxidizer in pool, it reduces the amount of chlorine used but does not eliminate it completely. I need to go chlorine free. There are several methods to accomplish that I just havent found anyone that has actually used one.

Of course that was a couple decades ago, so things may have changed.
