Replaced a heat monitor light a few years back. Now one of the stovetop coils has no thermostat - no ability to control the temp. It stays on HIGH all the time, no matter where the handle is turned.
I'm thinking that's the whole thermostat/rheo? assembly beneath the handle. Probably a few plug in connectors and a new unit. Does this sound reasonable? It's an Amana, 23 years old. DIY. You think parts should be available?

(48,937 posts)can they be lubricated? I have the old one to take apart and it's relays driven by a rubber stem with a bump on it that moves around a rubber core. The old one was dirty but loose. Doubt it can be taken apart, but a little silicone spray lube?
