Question about salvia- sage

Our son gifted his Mom with a salvia. I don't know the specific cultivar. Some need to be pruned back in the fall others not.

This one. Is pretty leggy but has new growth at the base. Question, should I prune it?

You can cut it almost to the ground AFTER it sprouts in spring. But be sure you have some green on it before you cut on it. Plant it if you haven’t already. Good drainage and full sun, of course.
