Related: About this forumI finally had some success growing eggplant!
These will go into a Greek one-pot dish along with some tomatoes, rice, garlic, oregano, etc.
The plants got a late start due to all the rain we had in June, but they hung on once July came.
They are Burpee Shooting Stars. My husband started them from seed.

(7,440 posts)I tried one plant here in FL, it did ok & then survived hurricanes Matthew & Irma (it just kept growing into a bush in the warm weather) but never produced again. It bloomed but the blossoms fell off, even though I used blossom set.
I haven't tried again.

(36,082 posts)and werent quite as sponge-y as the ones Ive bought from grocery stores. Definitely will try again next year and hope for not as rainy of a June.
At least in Florida you dont have to worry as much about frost! Strange that the blossoms fell off your plant. Maybe a beetle? That happened to my cukes one year, a beetle got inside the blossoms and they fell off.

(15,718 posts)eggplant is this? I grew a type several years ago that were long and thin. Think they were called Japanese eggplant.
