Related: About this forumSadly, Andreas (aka Mister Andy) has died
Andreas reverted back to where he was on Sunday.
I called the vet and I had to take him back in.
They figure he had a brain tumor.
So, I had to have him put down.
I miss my old kitty and the other two here are looking for him not to be found.
What a shitty life I've had since my husband died.
Almost killed in a car accident in Sept., sold a car that was from a less than honest car dealer that cannot be sold, lawsuit over it now and now Mr. Andy the Andreas is gone just like that *poof*.
RIP my dear friend. You were loved.

Thanks for your support everyone. It means a lot to me.

(223,396 posts)And I sure know how you feel, it's devastating to lose a beloved pet, especially if it's unexpected. The only solace I can offer is to consider the good life you gave him and remember how lucky he was to have found you...

You've had more than your share of challenges; may your future be brighter.
RIP Mr. Countallvotes.

(6,328 posts)it's such a deep pain in your heart to lose a fur friend. That's the price we pay for having them with us for too short a time. We all hope someday to be with our friends again.

(21,093 posts)He knew more about animals than any veterinarian I've ever known as he was born and raised on a sheep farm.
Before he died in May of 2022 he told me, "You need to have that cat put down. He is sick!".
I thought he was just saying that given his own condition at the end of his life.
He was the one that adopted Andreas and Silver.
He was right too it seems.
This is such a difficult time in my life.
The way its going now, I'll be lucky if I don't lose the house given my own very serious health condition as stress activates multiple sclerosis. The money is going fast, very fast.
I need to stay alive to care for my other two remaining kitties, Silver (the brother of Andreas) and Missy, my precious black cat.
This is so difficult. I was so isolated caring for a man with dementia for the last 10 years of my life and here I am now alone with few friends.
I have no great reason to hang on other than the two cats I have left as the one sibling I have is too busy building a mansion for my very spoiled niece that has never had to work a day in her life. Well, lucky her. None of these last living relatives of mine care one bit about me and yes, it hurts, I will admit it.
And now this, the rather sudden death of Andreas or Mr. Andy as my husband called him.
This is too much for me tonight and I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
What the hell did I do to deserve this crappy life of being all alone with no one?
What, if anything at all, am I worth?

(35,132 posts)maybe you could talk to your doctor tomorrow about how you're feeling about things and what's going on
cocoa? chocolates? something to elevate your mood?
and for what it's worth-- you've got us

(26,398 posts)beautiful Mr. Andy must be heartbreaking, especially when you see the grief of the other cats.
I hope your doctor can help you. You are loved here, and we think you are worth a lot.

(5,410 posts)That was a hard day, and I cried in the vet's office
My best friend and my father both died shortly after that...
... but they all still visit me in my dreams---
including a dog I lost 20 years ago...
and it makes me happy when that happens!
Tough times--- but remember, Andreas' heart is still with you!

you can upload a picture you have saved on your computer/device and when the little image appears just scroll down to the second line ("direct link" and at the end of it on the right there is a little icon; click on that and the word "copied!" appears.
so then you can come on du and just paste the link here.
hope that helps.
you can even sign up and and get an account there (but i haven't done that so i don't know how long they save your photos, etc.)

(21,093 posts)There is no sleep to be found here tonight.
Missy and Silver are looking for Andreas and I guess they don't realize he isn't coming home tonight or ever again. So sad.
Andy loved to be combed. All you had to say was "comb" and he'd come running. This is a picture of him after being combed on his combing dresser.
He was such a smart cat. How he is missed.
I wonder how long the other two will be looking for him?

(2,208 posts)It is so incredibly difficult to lose our furkids. I have had to part with 7 kittykids and it never gets easier each time. Treasure your two remaining kitties. Andy will live on in your memories and dreams.

(1,445 posts)Things sound so hard for you. So much you have gone through.
He is out of pain. I rescued a brother and sister kitty and she died abruptly one year not too long ago. It was horrifying. So fast. I thought her brother would never recover but I want to tell you they never forget but they do recover. He may bond closer with the other cat. Mine did anyways.
I am soooo sorry.😭
CountAllVotes
(21,093 posts)Silver is very jealous of Missy and vice-versa.
I guess they don't have much of a choice but to bond closer to one another.
They are sure upset tonight, a mutual feeling.
What a lonely hell I am living right now.

My dear CountAllVotes, I am so very sorry for the loss of your precious Mr. Andy. Words cannot really help, especially knowing all that you are going through. Have you explained to Silver and Missy about Andreas? Are you having him cremated?
Please know that your entire DU family is here for you. Lean as hard as you need. Holding you and your little ones in love and light.
