The six tomcats I got out of the hoarder house are now all neutered, loose in the house, and adjusting nicely. They’re not feral exactly, more feralish—they can be touched, but on their terms. But now that they’re comfortable and settling in, a couple of them have resumed an old tomcat habit—they serenade. If you’ve ever had a tomcat serenading on your back patio, you know how loud and persistent their yowls are. A couple of my guys are now into walking around the house yowling loudly at night. They don’t want anything in particular, they just seem to have a serenading routine. So I’m up too early contemplating my future of being woken up by serenading every night by cats who will never be adoptable because they serenade all night.

(15,264 posts)It goes on whenever they’re awake. There’s a certain black cat named George I’d like to throttle. I was at Walmart earlier this morning looking for Feliway to see if that would help, but they didn’t have it. Have to wait for Petsmart to open.

(15,264 posts)Another night of yowling. I know one shouldn’t speak ill of the dead, but I’m really angry at the man who left behind all these unsocialized tomcats. If they had been living outdoors, they’d have been neutered and put right back out, but these cats were living indoors.

(3,078 posts)Some days it's "Lion Kitteh Safareh" around here. We're lucky because they go outside to do that most of the time. Ours came from a feral litter, but we caught them and neutered them as kittens. Thanks for taking care of them. Sorry for the noise. Hopefully they'll settle down and give you a break.
