Related: About this forumAnyone notice a difference in Fancy Feast products lately?
I've been buying it for my cat for 3 years and she used to love it. Lately, I've noticed the food is way soupier, especially the ones with "gravy". She now reluctantly eats it because it's all I put out for her.

(10,452 posts)getting harder for them to eat. The ones that were more like a jelly they liked, but I had to change the food up a lot, different flavors and different brands.

(377 posts)But yes, they all seem to be getting soupier.
Of course, I sometimes offer as many as 8 or 10 different things before I find what he wants so have no idea if it's because they've changed the food.

(19,356 posts)My cat likes to pick, he'll eat, go on an adventure, or take a nap. He prefers the dry but gets half a can every day.
When I get the Friskies cans at the Sparkle Market he eats it up eventually.
When I buy the same flavors from the Dollar General at a slightly lower price, I have to throw most of it away. He licks the gravy
I wonder if the company sells a lower grade mix to discount stores to realize a profit for stores that demand a discount?

(24,280 posts)We have always had at least one cat and feed some feral cats. My house cats and even the feral cats won't eat the generic Publix or Winn Dixie cat food, won't even touch it.
Our present male cat has cystitis so can't eat any hard food except his perscription CD variety. He has never liked it much, then quit eating both the hard and soft varieties. I switched from chicken stew to tuna stew and he eats it as long as I put Fortiflora on top. He also has chronic herpes so Fortiflora is really good for him so I sprinkle it on very liberally. He's an inside/outside type of guy, so I have to keep him inside at least once every few weeks to make sure he's still able to pee ok. He loves going outside and doesn't like using his inside boxes anymore so I have to force the issue and he gets mad at me those days, like today.

(19,356 posts)I'm just not gonna buy from DG anymore. It's a waste.

(24,280 posts)Various types of soap and cleaning products and toothbrushes and Christmas bags and wrapping are pretty much the only things we get at DG.

(2,259 posts)IMO, you should consider switching to something better.
Our cats used to love it. Then we started having multiple cats routinely barfing it up, especially certain flavors. Several would no longer touch it. The gravies line had everyone puking, regardless of flavor. I have no idea what is in there, but I will never feed it to any of our brood again.

(24,132 posts)I dont know your price range, or if there are special needs in your brood. If you arent in the market, pricewise, for the truly healthy stuff like Royal Canin (generally better received) or Science Diet, weve fed stuff like Cores Wellness Signature Selects, or Reveal. Thats still more expensive than Fancy Feast, but everyone has liked it and it has stayed inside the cats where it belongs. Ive been able to get both at some grocery stores, but have been able to go cheaper in bulk online.

BTW, she's 3-year old Abyssinian.

(934 posts)Suggest 9 lives, Meow mix or one of the more expensive brands. Mix in gradually with FF over time for cat to make adjustment to new.

(24,132 posts)So that doesn't explain this recent cheapening of the product

(24,280 posts)25% of all male cats get cystitis and Meow Mx is terrible for this, nearly killed our Foggy. For some reason this one seems to be the worst at generating the urethra blocking crystals, so be careful.
